Roku Acquires Quibi in a Deal Worth “Significantly Less Than $100 Million”

Roku has acquired more than 75 shows from Quibi in a deal worth “significantly less than $100 million.” The content will be available in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. and will be displayed in the Roku Channel. In addition to this, many other Quibi shows will also be coming to the Roku.

The Acquisition Will be Displayed in the Roku Channel

Although most of Roku’s content is derived from licensing, the company is also focusing on producing original content. This is a move that is likely to be viewed favorably by the owners of the content, as it gives Roku a competitive distribution channel and drives up the value of its content. The acquisition of Quibi is the first step toward this goal, and it will be displayed in the roku quibi 100m Channel.

The acquisition will complement the Roku’s primary content strategy by allowing viewers to see content from the network’s catalog of shows. Quibi’s award-winning shows will now be available to all Roku subscribers free of charge. The acquisition is expected to be completed by 2021.

The acquisition will add this content to Roku’s already extensive portfolio, which includes more than 200 channels. The Roku Channel is a popular destination for free ad-supported video. Roku is one of the leading players in video advertising, with $647 million in revenue in the first quarter of 2017.

Content Will be Available in the U.S., U.K. and Canada

Roku is bringing award-winning shows from the Quibi network to Roku. The company recently acquired the global distribution rights to more than 75 of Quibi’s shows. The content will be available free of charge to all Roku users by 2021.

Because the network effect is theoretically global, Roku can invest in content that appeals to a global audience. It has to consider the size and profitability of the market before making any investments. For instance, the US television market is the world’s largest, with an estimated $160 billion budget for advertisements. That means that the US market has significant potential for growth for Roku.

Roku has also expanded its content offerings to include more original content. For the second quarter of 2021, the number of streaming hours on the Roku channel more than doubled. The company also announced a pay-one-window rights deal with Saban Films and has greenlit the second season of Kevin Hart’s ‘Die Hart’ series. Moreover, Roku also said that it is hiring new employees to oversee the expansion of its content offerings.

Other Quibi Shows Coming to Roku

Roku recently announced that it would license Quibi’s library of entertainment content, bringing more than 75 titles to the streaming service. According to Patel, the company decided to premiere nearly half the titles in one go, while the remaining 45 are expected to roll out over the next year.

One of these shows, 50 States of Fright, was produced by Sam Raimi. The series featured nine horror stories and aired for two seasons on Quibi. The premiere was directed by Raimi himself. Moreover, Roku is also bringing back the existing Quibi content to its streaming platform.

In addition to the 30 original Quibi titles, Roku also plans to add a second batch of 23 new titles to its channel. These new shows will be labeled as “Roku Originals” and will be available for streaming free in the US, Canada, and the UK. Other Quibi shows coming to Roku include the Josh Groban-hosted game show Eye Candy, the second season of the popular cleaning competition Squeaky Clean, and the untitled “Skrrt With Offset.”
